Rod selection

I think the time has come for me to do some upgrading. It's been several years since I bought any rods with the exception of a custom I had made 2 years ago for throwing those 10XD. I broke one of my Falcon Caras Wednesday eve and that was when I realized my rod choices were really not very good.

Here's my question :  Will the rod I had made for throwing the really deep cranks double as a swimbait rod ?

Curt:
I might be way off on this one, but from what I know about swimbait rods they are a bit beefier than deep cranking rods because most swimbaits tend to be on the hefty side.

Get, I bought an Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 a week or so ago that i haven't used yet. It's 7'9" rod with a fast tip (and alot of handle)made for bait rigs. The weight range is 5/8 oz. to 3oz. Feels pretty good. It's going to double as a flipping stick also. ...In fact, i was going to use it tomorrow for the first time, but both my batteries are dead and both chargers are bad (ol) I have a tournament soon so i'll re-post when time comes

Thanks for the feedback guys. Curt It sounds like you and I are thinking along the same track. I don't throw deep cranks a whole lot or swimbaits. I was pretty much thinking the same as you though. My deep crank rod is designed with more of a parabolic pattern to it I think and I also think the swimbait rod may need to be more beefier. Does the swimbait rod need a faster tip ?
