Your not the only oddball.  I use braid on most of my reels except for shaky head fishing.   To me its easier all around.  When I do get a birdnest its easy to pick out, and I have used the same line for two years on a couple of reels.   Power Pro is my favorite.  50 lb or 60 lb.

I use Sufix 832 braid with a P-Line fluorocarbon leader.  I use the biggest braid I can get which helps with the digging, I fill my spool with cheap mono and only use about 75 yards of braid which also helps.  Hook sets with a braid/fluoro are hands down the best.  I use the alberto knot to join my braid to other lines and to my knowledge I've never lost a  fish due to knot failure!  This is typically how I set up my flipping/pitching combos.

For everything else I use Sufix Elite Mono, best line ever IMO!!
