Squeezed in another night trip on Monday night!
Being just 24 hours after the Super Moon, the night was pretty bright with a near full moon, but intermittent high clouds took the edge off the moonlight a little bit.
Landed 3 bass and had a couple of really nice misses on various topwater baits. The 3 bass I landed were 2 1/2 lbs. 3 lbs. and this beast, at 6 lbs. even!
She delicately inhaled a Hawgstomper buzzbait in water less than 2 feet deep, right near a small lily pad bed. There was no other cover anywhere near these pads, so either she was cruising, or she came from underneath those pads.
As I said, she delicately inhaled the bait, with just a tiny slurp. But once I set the hook I knew immediately that it was a really good fish.
I didn't have my net handy, so I played it to the boat and lipped it. Was glad to get a firm grip on it after playing ti all the way to the boat and having her spend a fair amount of time under the boat as she tried to run to deeper water
I know I keep saying that I probably won't get out at night any more this year, but with the forecast for the rest of this week and into next week, I think I can safely say this was my last night trip of 2015
But what a way to end the night fishing season!
