I remember my military days all night lighting was red.  like Curt said it wont mess up your night vision.  and bugs cant see that spectrum    UV lights are the worst like the black lights I used to use at night to see my flouresant stren line  worked great but every bug in 3 counties wanted to fish with me   Bug catchers use UV light to attract bugs

Bugs attack my rubrail when my UV lights are on but they dont attack me on the deck.
