Tried Some Night Fishing
« on: May 18, 2017, 11:28:43 AM »
I gave some night fishing a try last night. I don't usually start this early in the year, but we've had a hot spell the last few days, with daytime highs around 80. This has finally pushed the water temps up into the mid-to-high 60s, so I figured I'd give it a try.

Well, we caught absolutely nothing! In fact, we fished from 8:30 until about 12:15 and had no action whatsoever. Not a bite, a bump, s slurp or anything similar  (fp)

Nothing. Nada, Zilch.

I was surprised, but I wasn't surprised. I think the sudden change in temperatures put the fish into some kind of thermal shock. LOL

I'll give it a try again soon  (yes)

Wow that is surprising.

I started fishing the night tournaments a couple weeks ago.  I have a tournament tomorrow night.  They run from 6:30 - 12:00

Maybe I can get on a few.   Last tournament I caught most on a black and blue spinnerbait with a big Colorado blade very slow rolled.

I have poor night vision so I only fish on a waxing to full moon.  The lake I fish has no houses or resorts for light.  There are 3 marinas miles apart and very few docks so it is very dark when there is no moon.

I fished 2 times during April moon but it was too dicey to go out on the May moon.  Now with the high water I probably won't be out at night till the July waxing gibbous.
If you're too busy to go fishing you're too busy!!

Ya, I was surprised too. I figured we'd at least catch a few.

I typically use a black or black/blue spinnerbait with a large single blade also. I make these just for night fishing.
