Recessed Foot TM Pan
« on: February 02, 2015, 08:49:36 AM »
This one project saved my back!
1. Plan out your location

2. Tape

3. Trace Outer Edge of your foot pan

4. Trace inner Edge approx 1/2" (this is where you will be cutting so the lip of the Foot Pan sits on the Deck.

5. Fire up the sawzall

6. Drop it in and put in a few screws

Ta Da! no more back pain at the end of the tournament!

I've been using one of those for several years and love it.  However, I didn't have the guts to cut the deck of my Champion so I hired it done.  Even then the guys cut the wiring going from the bow back through the wiring tube.

I hate when stuff like that happens... You hire someone to do it for you and they mess it up.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago when I paid the dealership where I bought my boat to install my Humminbird SI unit. They made a complete mess of the transducer installation on the transom. For some reason they put a screw through the middle of the bracket, completely eliminating the kick-up feature of the bracket. The transducer was set way too deep in the water, so it put a tremendous amount of pressure on it when I put the boat on plane.

They also didn't do a great job of leveling and aligning the transducer. I had to play with it A LOT in order to get it ro read even somewhat properly.

What they did do right was the routing of the wires and the mounting of the unit on the console. That they did a great job of.

Still not worth the $300 I paid them for it.  (nope)
