Chipped Windshield
(1/1)
Curt:
The one downside of taking my truck to NC is that it took a rock to the windshield on the way down. It hit so hard that the noise made my wife and I jump when it happened!
I tried hard to see where it hit, but couldn't see it while we were driving. (fp)
But on our last day there, I cleaned the windshield spotless, and it was while I was cleaning it that I spotted where the rock hit. It's not huge, but there's clearly a small bullseye divot there.
I thought about buying a $13 windshield repair kit, but opted instead to spend the $40 to get it fixed professionally. I read too many horror stories of people starting off with a tiny chip and then ending up with a large crack when they tried to fix it themselves.
I'm not gonna be that guy (nope)
JackJ:
The repair kits have always worked pretty good for me. Have not had to go back and re-do any of them.

I have heard that they tend to work well, but I don't want to risk turning a small chip into a larger crack. For me, it's worth the $40 to have a pro handle it.

Curt:
