Drying Your Boat After Fishing in The Rain
« on: February 06, 2015, 02:23:00 PM »
After my garage was built, I wanted to figure out a way to dry the boat if I happen to go fishing while it was raining. When the boat was stored outside under a cover, I would simply remove the cover when the rain stopped and let the sun dry it out. Now that it was going to be stored inside, I would no longer have that option (unless I pulled it outside and let it site for a while).

So... after looking at it and thinking about it, here's what I came up with.

Boat-Drying Fans!!

These babies are all connected to switched outlets, controlled by a single switch.

Come home from fishing, back the boat into the garage, plug in the charger, flip the switch for the fans and walk away  ;D

One other thing I'll do if the rain was heavy is to quickly run the shop vac across the carpet to get the majority of the water out of it. After that, the carpet is bone dry by the next morning  (yes)

I just set a box fan on the back deck and let it blow.  Your setup looks good.  Nice garage too.

Good idea. I have an industrial fan mounted on the wall beside mine.

Curt we must be "fellow geniuses"!  (giggle) I likewise put fans up on the wall at each end of my rig to dry it after a day of bad weather.

I keep several portable fans in the cabinet. I just set em up and plug em in. Most of the time mine sets in the garage with the cabinet lids open.

I've got a commercial grade wall fan that I bought on Woot.com at a steal of a price years ago.  Really overkill for boat drying, but it was priced right.  It'll about blow the hair off your head on HIGH.  I pretty much leave it running on low all summer long to keep air flowing in the garage.
