Braided Line

Treeman12:
I had back-to-back heavy fish break my 30# braid on the strike last summer.

I thought maybe it was 2 big pike but was throwing square bill crank baits into a stump field.  After the second strike/break I almost threw the whole dang rod in the water.  My wife calls it "My least finest hour" since I lit the lake up with profanity... (no)

I haven't thrown it since...  Someone told me I needed a special knot for braid or it will break.  I have always tied an improved cinch knot my whole life.

???

Bullet3119:
Do you wet it before cinching it down?

Treeman12:
Yep I did

Curt:
Braid requires something other than the improved clinch knot.

When I used to use braid, I used the Palomar knot with no problems whatsoever.

Now I no longer use braid, so knots aren't a problem  ;D

I have changed all my reels to mono and one with fluoro, which have never let me down.  Sure would like to see the fish that broke the line though!  :'l   Thanks guys...
