Title: Action Camera
Post by: frugalangler on April 22, 2016, 10:55:12 AM
I'm considering adding an 'Action Camera' to the boat, and most gravitate to the GoPro line, but being the frugal person I am I'm looking to see if anyone uses a less costly one that is comparable. I've seen a few that look pretty good, specifically SJCAM has caught my eye, and am thinking about giving this one a try SJcam SJ5000 Plus Ambarella A7LS75 ($91 to $145) & from what I can tell it's feature compatible, and you can get a waterproof case that allows use w/ external DC power for about $12, and it's remotely controllable with smartphone.

Anyone have any experience here, this is new water for me.

One advantage of the GoPro and other similar is the waterproof case, which on a boat w/ water splashing is a must, in my opinion, and all the ones I'm looking at are essentially a dash cam w/ much better features and waterproof case

@Treeman12 Didn't you buy a cam for your boat recently? I remember you mentioning that it wasn't a GoPro and saved you a ton of cash while still offering you all of the features of the more expensive camera, plus some more. Can you chime in here??
