Post by: Curt on March 14, 2018, 03:49:39 PM
This week's new Tackle test is live!

This week, we reviewed a new reel that we think you will absolutely love.

Check this out: It weighs less than 6 ounces!

Give it a read, and please share it with your fishing buddies  (yes)

I hope it's better than previous KastKing reels, the ones I got are very frustrating - I picked up 5, all have same 2 problems:

1-the gap between the spool and frame is too wide - poor tolerance control! It allows smaller line (mono/fluro less than 20#) and most all braid to slip between the spool and frame, it's a major stop fishing w/ that rod event, and put in locker for the rest of the day.

2-the brake is non-existent on cast control, it over-spools way too easy even w/ the brake adjusted to max, the only  way to control is to tighten down on the spool friction, again poor tolerance control.

Just my findings, If anyone wants 5 KasstKings cheap, just saying!

@frugalangler This reel is leaps and bounds above my first one.

I'm still using my first one. I got used to the little quirks and never experienced the problems you had with the line getting caught. I did find the brakes to be barely adequate, in light of it having 11 bearings. But this new model doesn't have the braking issues at all.

Also, that first one I bought cost only $36. In my opinion, because I didn't experience the problems that you did, it's been a very good reel for the price.
