Title: I left ignition key on 1993 150 hp Johnson?
Post by: Coldfront57 on July 18, 2016, 09:24:31 AM
Will this damage anything on the motor? It obviously was powering something on the motor the starting  battery went stone dead. Key was left on for about a week.
Thanks Erik

I would not think it would have hurt anything other than discharging your battery.

a possibility that a coil was overheated or the regulators were damaged.  The motor controller or now we call it a cpu draws current when the key is on if left on long enough it will kill the battery.   Probability is youre ok tho just charge the battery and  sniff around for unusually smells like a electrical smell.  with key on  cowl off
