Got some new molds to shoot plastic into this spring
here's a couple quick picks of some of the experimentation I'm doing trying to learn.
Very subtle color laminate = look closely, pic doesn't show well.

Aah, good old Brush Hog! Some people really catch 'em on those things!

These are baby's
It's a go-to in our area! Great all around bait. I call it the 4X4 SUV of soft plastics, it can go anywhere!

I'm likin' those. Did you shoot the chartreuse cut off the body then shoot again? Or is it like a core shot?
I'm looking for the regular brush hog mold. No one seems to have the exact one any more.

Very nice.

This is a Basstackle.com mold, they have a 4" and 6" - and tail molds which is how I shoot the tails, a little bit of a pain to put back in mold, but saves plastic.
I like how they do, their molds are very good quality.

I did not know about the tail molds. I figured you had to shoot chartreuse then cut then shoot the other color.
Since you left I bought the baby brush hog from Lure Craft. Some of the high school kids who make baits in my shop wanted it.
BTW How was the fishing trip?

I don't pour my own soft plastics, but it's interesting to hear you guys banter back and forth with feedback and ideas

It was great to get away, we had 75's for highs and 55's for lows, only had rain one day, but it was a true gully washer!
We did pretty good for my not having been there before, but honestly it's not on my 'gotta go back' lake list. I've never flipped and pitch so much dang buck brush, that's almost the only pattern other than submerge grass which is even harder to pattern out, you can flip pockets of grass for hours and never get bit, but we did find plenty of fish buried deep in buck brush. It reminded me of Pomme buck brush, except it was lining every shoreline and standing in up to 2' of water where Pomme it seems the buck is only in water if the lake is high. This lake was actually about a foot low, so at normal pool the buck brush would definitely be the factor. Also found a few w/ traps on some flats outside of grass, so we did get relief from the buck brush. I also found one point w/ a nice shell bed that held fish one afternoon, so some nice c-rigging with some bonus whites thrown in.
Was not nice to return to home and 5 miles out we hit slush and snow, so when I got home at 8PM and 28*, we backed the boat in drive, unloaded what we had to and put off the rest til the next day when it was a bit warmer @ 37*, what the #### happened to spring, geez?

The weather has been crazy. My wife and I went to Springfield this am. We left with a temp of 60° and a strong breeze. We stopped for lunch and noticed the temp was 71°. After lunch when we got back to the car it had dropped to 58° and the wind has switched to the north. It is rattling the house and has dropped to 45°. They say hard freeze with 24° for the low tonight.
I saw a bit of a Royals game while eating. They said it was 36° in KC. I'll bet you guys out there on the prairie are being hammered.
