Title: Humminbird 899
Post by: clvalent on October 28, 2015, 02:29:58 PM: Every once and a while my 899 depth will be very wrong. It will say I'm in several hundred feet of water when it's not nearly that deep. I have attached a picture to show what I mean. Any ideas on what's goin on here?

Do you have another Humminbird on the boat? Sometimes two units running on the same or a very similar frequency will interfere with each other, causing incorrect depth readings.

Not necessarily. Try turning the front unit off for a while and see if you still experience the same problems.

Right now this is a process of elimination. So try one thing at a time to see if you get any results.

I didn't know the frequency could be changed.

@JackJ how do you change the frequency?

Post by: JackJ on October 29, 2015, 09:52:08 AM: On my Elite 5, I can chose between 50khz, 83khz and 200khz, and the downscan works at 455khz.
On my HDS 7 I can chose even more, but I usually leave it on sideimaging most of the time anyways which works at 800khz.

In the menu you chose, sonar> then Frequency, then just change it there.

Surely you can do this on the humminbird also.
