Title: Making Good Use of The Time
Post by: Curt on February 11, 2019, 11:37:17 AM
It might still be freezing cold outside,. but that doesn't stop me from making new spinnerbaits and other baits for when it warms up!

Here are some of my night fishing spinnerbaits! Stocking up for summer nights on the lakes here in RI and CT.

These are 1/2 oz. baits made using premium heads and components that give them the maximum vibration. The wire used for these heads is unique and is like no other wire I've ever used or seen. It makes these baits incredibly sensitive and I can feel every single rotation of the monster blade. I can also feel if a fish even slightly bumps this bait, giving me a very high percentage hookup ratio.

They look really good Curt.  Is that shrink tube covering a wire crimp or just a fold?

@Jig Man I don't use the special pliers that are designed for making the small loops in the wire, so it's not a complete circle. This means that there is a tiny percentage of a chance that the swivel might find that tiny little crevice and pop off somehow. It has happened to me once in a great while over the years. So I put shrink tubing over that little spot with the hopes that it will prevent that from happening.

I'm still experimenting with figuring out the optimal length for that piece, which you can probably tell when you look closely at them!

The reason I asked is I did that with Arig wires.  My shrink tube moved on a couple of them and I lost the baits.

Check out smalljaw's video of locking a spinnerbait wire.  I put my split ring and blade on before completely locking the wire.

My wire is still closed tightly, with no visible gap, but I did this to be on the safe side and make sure. But I do understand that there is no guarantee

Thanks for the video. I will check it out

I watched the video. I'm going to have to practice on some old spinnerbaits before I attempt it on a good one  (giggle)

I just took a piece of wire and did some practicing long before I tried it on a real bait.
