Title: MK/HB I pilot link
Post by: Jig Man on February 03, 2019, 02:26:49 PM
I have been running a MK Ulterra with I pilot only because I've had a Lowrance unit.  I just bought a Hummin Bird Solix 10 and an I pilot link for my Ulterra.  Yesterday was the first day on the water.  Some things were a little difficult because I wasn't used to the new remote and how it functions.

All in all I was very pleased with it.  The follow the contour is a very nice option.  I have spent most of today researching and asking questions on MK and HB forums so I have set some things up and have a better understanding of the operation of the two units.  I am going back tomorrow and try to put my new knowledge to good use.

Sounds like you did a fair amount of homework, which should pay off for you in the long run. The learning curve on new equipment is something I've always hated. But it's necessary in order to get the most out of your stuff.  (yes)

Day 2 on the water was super.  I got most of the new remote figured out and also have it linked to my new hummingbird.  I can fully control the unit from the hummingbird screen so I don't have to have the I pilot link remote up front in the way or around my neck.  I think I'm set up for a while.

Good for you!

Sounds like you're really working out the kinks and getting comfortable with everything.

I have thought about the neck thing and that really bugs me. The last thing I would want is a large pendant hanging from my neck all the time. I can see that driving me absolutely insane. So, if I was ever to buy something that comes with a neck pendant, I would seriously have to look into alternate methods of controlling it.
