I had a blue st. croix rod blank given to to me years back from a shop that was going out of business. I decided to use it to build my first rod. I used an eva split grip and micro guides.
It turned out OK which is to be expected for a first time. Good news was that I don't have much money tied into it at all since the blank didn't cost me anything.
all I can say is that I gained a new respect for rod builders. that was not easy at all and I am pretty sure I will not be trying another.
