During the summer months, my absolute favorite thing to do is to chase big bass after dark.
Fishing after dark is beneficial for a few reasons.
1 - no hot sun to deal with.
2 - no boat traffic to deal with
3 - Most importantly, big bass come out to play at night!
Despite many people thinking that night fishing is limited to topwater baits in shallow water, big bass can be caught on just about any kind of bait that you'd also throw during the day, including jigs, worms, etc.
My #1 bait for night fishing is a spinnerbait, followed closely by big topwaters, buzzbaits and then soft plastic baits.
And this is why I love fishing at night!

Those two fish were caught less than 10 minutes apart, all in a stretch of water less than 200 feet long.
One was 5 1/2 lbs. The other was just shy of 6 lbs. ;D

Nice fish and OH YES I love night fishing. If you have a bug problem try putting a couple of fabric softener sheets about your person like one in the back of your cap and one in a shirt pocket. I carry them in the boat all the time.

yep LOVE night fishin as well in the dead of summer around here on Pickwick and KY Lake. I usually start about 3-4pm in the afternoon and still get the ledge bite plus the darkfall bite. Then after dark I'll usually prowl shallows near deep water and do so with big worms like the Ol Monster (Zoom) and mans 12" jellyworms. I chunk spinnerbaits some as well but usually the plastics (with rattling Gambler bullet weights) is what I prefer! (yes)

Great looking fish! I'll see if I can get Bo James on here. He's specializes in night fishing on Table Rock lake. He puts a ton of videos on Youtube.

Wizard you know Bo? I definitely like his jigs.
To op fishing at night is about the only way we can fish LOZ in tje summer due to boat traffic. More times than not it is fishing brush hogs in brush piles.

Bo and I chat sometimes and he does have a good product. My family is from Flippin, Ark and we both fish the same way with the same Ozark knowledge. Most of the older Ozark anglers learned from thier families as a right of passage.
