After almost 60 yrs of fishing, I can say the key to bass fishing is finding forage. Knowing seasonal patterns and movement of bass is a good thing. But, if the forage isn't around, neither are the bass. Study the seasonal movements of the forage and you will consistently catch bass.

With reservoirs it might be a bit different than here where I live, where most of the lakes are natural basins and we don't usually have schools of shad roaming around, but even here it still plays a major role in bass location. Find forage, and you find bass :)
