Title: New Lure Stuff
Post by: Curt on December 08, 2015, 10:04:47 AM
I got a package of new lure parts and components yesterday, that I had ordered last last week.

I wanted to try the Signature Spin Heads from Lure Parts Online.

They're built using something called Camo Wire. It's not your ordinary stainless steel. This stuff is tough, yet it still has great vibration! Not sure how it's made, but they managed to develop a wire that's thin, but won't get all bent out of shape when a good fish hits it.

I learned about this from @CustomJigLureInnovations (Rich Edwards). He made me a few spinnerbaits from this wire back during the summer months and I got to put a couple of them to the test in the early fall months, while fishing at night.

I caught two or three fish on this one spinnerbait one night, including this one that was close to 6 lbs.

This fish literally jerked the rod almost out of my hands when it hit, and then pulled like a freight train. But the spinnerbait never bent once. Not even a little  (nope)

Seeing how well this bait held up to such a beating convinced me that this wire is the best I have ever seen. And unlike titanium wire, it won't snap off, like some of those well-known $12 spinnerbaits do.

Anyway, once I get finished putting some baits together with this new wire, I'll post some pics here  (yes)

What grade stainless is it?  I buy metal for a living and just curious what it actually is.

Nice fish!!

Thanks @JackJ It hit like a ton of bricks!

As for the wire, it's manufactured by Mustang Wire, so I don't know much about it other than it's extremely rugged.
