hey guys whats your go to bait while bass fishing something u cant just let sit u have to throw..
-
mines a weightless centepede cant seem to let it just sit in the boat lol
-
I guess mine would be a beaver style bait called the Salty B-Bug, which I buy by the 100 pack from Lure Parts Online.
That one bait has put hundreds of bass up to 6 lbs. in my boat during scouting trips, guide trips, recreational trips and during tournaments.
I've used it during the day, at night and everything in between and have caught fish on it.

If I am by myself I like to rig 10 setups with half in the front and half in the back. Normally make 5 casts with a setup. If not takers then it gets laid down and another picked up. I keep trading off till I get bit. Then I settle down and fish that bait. So I guess I don't have a "go to" bait.

Sounds like a great strategy

When conditions are tough I will use either a texas rig or a drop shot. 90% of the time with a zoom finesse worn or a robo. If I can't get a bite on these may as well boat ride and look for new places or go home and save gas.

(yes)

My go to bait is a Baby Advantage Jig. If I can't put a fish in the boat with that there ain't no fish in that lake.

Guys, let's add some pics of the baits that we view as our go-to bait.
For the Salty B-Bug, I don't separate the claws. I leave them fused together and it works great that way.

D&L Baby Advantage Jig
Is that a finesse jig? Do you have a size comparison for it, so I can get an idea of how big (or little) it is compared to a standard jig?
-
Yes, they are a small profile. Not so much a Finesse. Almost a swim with a little beefier head. I use 3/16-5/16 oz. sizes. I also use NetBait or Rage Tail trailers depending on what and how much action I want. I love the head design because the eye is not exposed to help keep from getting hung up in heavy cover. I also believe it or not use it for top water also. You can hold your rod tip high and burn it back on top or just under. I also use it like you would a frog on vegetation. I even bring it across the top of thick moss and pause it at the edge of holes in the moss then hope it into the holes and back out. The fish will give you a heat attack when they hit it. LOL!
If I can remember tonight when I get home I will get a picture of one rigged in my hand beside a crankbait so you can see the size.
-
They are made here in Ky. Here's a link. Give them a call and they may hook you up with a couple of their jigs to try. I believe you'd be impressed.

My go to bait tomorrow is a silver buddy. In May it will be a jerkbait in the summer a jig, most days down in Florida a swim jig has done best for me. Fishing is like golf. You need all the clubs in the bag at some point.

@jason078 The jigs look great!
When you refer to them as drop shot jigs, are you using them for the weight on a drop shot?
-
drop shot is what using them for they weigh nothing at all .We have found our DSJ to be very successful all across the U.S. in all water conditions. Our ProStaff has given it the THUMBS UP. We at Custom Bass Jigs took one of the leading fish catching techniques, tweaked it, and came up with the "DROP SHOT JIG".
Armed it with a larger hook resulted in more hook ups, the weightless jighead gives it more lifelike action while being worked.
Also the DSJ is very effective used as a Floating Fly behind a Carolina Rig and clustered together on a A-rig.
Our ProStaff had best results working the "Drop Shot Jig" on 12 lb Test line with a 1/2 to 3/4oz weight. Something all together different from the norm in drop shotting. The heavier weight acts like a banjo string giving the light jig more dance, the larger hook had less missed bites or lost fish on the way to the boat. The jig hangs straight out as seen in the video. As always at Custom Bass Jig we wire tie the skirt to the jig.

heres a tiny puff ball jig too i make
