Title: Lowrance Elite 7 hdi
Post by: Peterk715 on January 24, 2015, 05:35:13 PM
Anyone here use the Elite 7 hdi?  I recently purchased one for the bow, and am leaning towards another one for the console.  I would love to get the HDS 9 touch but that is a little out of my range right now.  So far the only issue that I have read about is the refresh rate of the 7.

I have a touch 9 on the bow and my partner has a elite 7. When using his boat I hardly notice the difference other than trying to "touch" it to change the settings. I think the elite 7 is a great value. Unless you are trying to follow a line at speed the refresh rate is not all that important . I am fairly certain you could share way points and SD card with another elite unit..

I wish I could have gotten the 7 but I just bought the 5 and will hopefully install it within the next week or so.

I know the two can be linked together with NEMA 2000 so the waypoint sharing can be done that way.  The only thing that I wish i had would be the structure scan, but for now ill have to settle for sonar and downscan.

I run one on my bow.  For the price and picture you can't beat it.  Wished that you could share the map off my HDS unit but buying a separate map card takes care of that just more expensive.
