Title: Still No Trailer
Post by: Curt on May 16, 2021, 09:02:10 PM
Well, my trailer didn't arrive last week like it was scheduled for.

So, I have been told that it will be here this week, on the 19th.

I sure hope it comes in this time. I need to get it badly.  (yes)

I finally got it!

I picked it up Friday at around noon. I pulled it home and got a few other things done, then I began the process of prepping it for my boat.

The total setup time was somewhere around 3 hours. There was a lot of measuring and adjusting of the bunks, since this is an aftermarket trailer that's built to handle a wide range of boat styles.

By the time I was done though, with some help from a good friend, we had it tweaked and my boat sitting pretty on it.

The boat sits much higher on this trailer than the old one, since it isn't custom designed for the boat. But it rides and handles like a dream. No swaying. No bouncing. And best of all, no rusted or cracked frame  (nope) (giggle)

And to break it in, I took the boat fishing and landed some nice bass that evening  (yes)

Launching and loading were painless.

Oh ya, one final note.

I had them customize this trailer for me.

They typically come with only two bunks. But I wanted my boat to be fully supported, so I had them add the second pair of bunks on the outside of the center bunks.

I took lots of pics of my old trailer, and gave them lots of measurements so they'd know where the bunks should be located.

I also had them upgrade the lights to LED, as well as having them add a keel roller on the rear crossmember, so I can use that to support my motor toter while transporting the boat.

Over the weekend, I began doing some of my own tweaks on the trailer, including transferring the transom tie-down straps from the old trailer and installing a new metal license plate bracket (to replace the plastic one that came with it).

I'll be doing a few more things to it this week, so I'll post pics when they're done.  (yes)
