Anybody else made the switch from navionics to lakemaster? Think I'm going to take the dive when southeast v3 comes out in a few days.

I have lakemaster but haven't got to use it yet.

I guess living in New England has its advantages. None of those map chips have very many of our lakes in them, so I don't have to worry about spending money them (giggle)

I've switched to Lakemaster. The water level offset alone makes it worth it if you fish anywhere that has fluctuating levels like the Tennessee River lakes. And Curt, I think they just released a Northeast chip a couple of weeks ago.

Most of the Northeast maps they release are for bigger bodies of water, very few of which I will ever fish. But thanks for the heads up! (y)

I actually have both, because there are lakes I fish not on Lakemaster, but the Navionics card has them. I do like the Lakemaster chips better - the detail and water level offset are great features.

Was actually thinking of getting the chip for the North East. I was surprised at just how long the list is. Have you seen the list Curt?

Saw lakemaster survey teams out several times last summer on different lakes in Maine. Finally doing the work but the downside is people will be able to buy info about lakes that I have spent the last 20 years trying to learn

Thanks @Patrick Definitely a long list of lakes.
My question would be this: Are the majority of these maps simply the maps that are already available via the various state books, or are they more detailed due to more recent surveys?

That's a little hard to answer Curt because my experience with these maps is kinda like my experience with computers and software. Really good today, really enhanced and better 6-12 months from now. But here is the deal with Lakemaster: Regardless of the detail of the contours (some are in 1 ft increments and others in 5 ft increments) my experience is Lakemaster is more detailed (I have Navionics that cover some of the same area).
But here is the kicker: with the Water Level Offset you can redraw the Lakemaster map to the real time depth of the lake you are fishing and it will be accurate as to the whole lake. That's a lot of piece of mind for us guys who fish new water a lot not to mention the advantage it gives to target fish at particular depths.

The water level updates don't effect me where I live, since there are no reservoirs. But I can definitely see how this could be useful (yes)

I have and I love the lakemaster. I still use the Navionics webb app on my PC for research at home.

I would love to be able to upgrade electronics and get the mapping software that allows you to map your own area using your HB and your PC. The SmartStrike technology would be nice to have too.

I use that also but have never been able to determine the actual Lat/Long of spots on that app. Is there a way that I'm missing?

Bought lakemaster southeast the other day. Playing with it in the garage, it looks to have a lot more detail than navionics. Haven't got on the water yet.
