Title: Pull cord broke
Post by: JackJ on March 02, 2015, 01:54:00 PM: Pull cord broke last Sat. What would be the best thing to replace it with? Wire cable? Or just another rope?

Post by: n2ratfishin on March 02, 2015, 02:16:56 PM: Mule tape, I got some from a contractor and used my old handle. Free and there is no way it's breaking by pulling up a trolling motor. Tape up the exposed part because you don't want a hook stuck in it.

Contractors normally throw it away once they have pulled what ever they are pulling through with it.

I found a rope at Lowes that has worked well for me for several years. Don't remember what it called though. (hmm)

I like this too but you need to be careful not to drop the handle......I bet it would do a number on a screen

I like the idea of that cable, but not so sure about that monster handle (hmm)

I still have one spare rope for my TM, so it'll be a while before I have to replace it. But when I do, I may just go for the cable setup.

Post by: Jig Man on March 12, 2015, 05:32:24 PM: I use parachute cord. It is 350# test and a saw buck will buy over 100 feet of it. That way I can have it any length I want because the replacements I have found are too short to be comfortable for me.
