Title: My current frustration. Curado
Post by: Eric Low on August 01, 2016, 10:13:40 AM
I love to fish pontoons and docks and as I get better at skipping I find that I am getting more of these where a loose coil will lasso the point to the right on the thumb bar.

It is almost to the point where a minor backlash is better as I would have to clean it up before engaging the reel.  It hasn't cost me a fish yet but it is going too.

I have had the same problem with Curados when I wasn't even skipping. Between that problem and a problem with backlashes when fishing in heavy rain, I finally got tired of it and sold them all just a couple of weeks ago.

I replaced them with Abu Garcia reels, since not a single one of them has ever given me either of those problems. The issue with backlashing in the rain was by far the biggest frustration I had with them.

looks like florocarbon line   too many of them loops and you will find you are making a 200 yard cast but the bait isnt attached to your reel anymore.  The line with break inside the spool at the point of your last bad backlash.  Floro doesnt like being folded to the point of being pinched hard.    take a loop from a backlash some day and look at it under a microscope   you will see the line is cracked almost in half.
looks to me like the anti backlask sliders aren't adjusted correctly.   dont try to take out the spool speed with the knurled knob   thats not what its for   I've been skipping with my curados for years and no problems but they are a pita to get just right.  and dont forget to lube it
