Title: Still Fishing?
Post by: Curt on November 12, 2015, 04:53:19 PM
Just curious as to how many people have packed up their gear for the winter already, and who is still fishing?

Personally, I am still fishing, but don't know for sure how much longer. The fall here has been decent, with a lot of days in the upper 50s and even into the mid 60s. But I know that can only last for just so long  :'l

Forecast for this Saturday is pretty cold, with sunny skies and wind, with a high temp of 47 degrees. But the week after that looks better!

We'll see how it goes during the coming weeks  (yes)

I'm taking my wife to NC to celebrate her BD.  I won't be back until next weekend so NO I'm not fishing but will be in about 10-15 days.  Then I'll keep goin' till hard water if we get some.

@Jig Man Do you normally get hard water there in your neck of the woods?

We do here, every year.  Last year was a bit unusual and we had 2 feet of ice  :o

The ice moved in in December and stayed until the 4th week of March!

Normally, it doesn't freeze until January and thaws out by early March. I'll tell ya... it's painful to have the second or third week of March roll around and see people still ice fishing  (fp)

Some winters we do and some we don't.   A couple of years ago guys were posting pics of people ice fishing on some of our lakes.  Lots of times I'll go and have maybe a 1/2 mile of 1" thick ice covering the water so I just hit it with my Champ and break it up till I get past it.  I've really been surprised that it doesn't even put a scratch on the boat.

I have plans to go this weekend and next. I don't ever put my boat up for winter. If I can get it in the water and it'd not butt cold I'm fishin'.

It's funny how ice won't scratch the finish on a boat, or even on a vehicle, for that matter.  (hmm)

If we didn't freeze up here, I'd do the same thing.

Where are you located?

Sliced the keel guard on my last boat. Cut like a knife. Same ice didn't harm the glass at all.

Gonna skip fishing tomorrow with the horrific winds we're having. Cooler temps I can handle, but not when the win is blowing 30+ MPH  (nope)

I ended up not going yesterday, like I had hoped to. Just too many things on my plate.

Oh well... still more time left before I pack it in for the winter
