So far, March has been abnormally warm here in Southern New England. When I fished this past week, water temps were only in the high 40s, but with the temps today in the mid 60s, the water temps have to be creeping up into the low and mid 50s.
All this week is forecast to be in the 50s, with the exception of one day.
It'll be interesting to see how all of this plays out and whether we go back to more seasonal (cooler) temps. If it
does stay warmer than normal, we might have an early spawn, and it will also cause weeds to grow up faster than normal.
In years past, if we have warm spells like this, it typically cools back down to normal and everything evens out. But so far this March, it's been pretty warm
