Braid, any lb test is a poor choice around rock or zebra mussels. Floro is the best choice for these. If the fish don't care go as heavy as you can. Deep bottom baits that you jig or drag around rock go for heavier. On the drop shot I go for about 2 rod lengths  for leader so I can retie 3 or so times. With the heavy leader 3'-4' is plenty.

I agree 100% regarding braid around rocks. It just plain doesn't hold up well  (nope)

This is one of the reasons I've steered clear of it for so long. But a fluoro or mono leader should fix that problem.
